ON ARRIVAL IN THE UK
The following 3 steps are advisable to take as soon as possible after you get work:
WRS
Sign on the Workers Registration Scheme (WRS) (See Work Section, Working in the UK)
Bank Account
Get a Bank Account (See this section, Bank Account)
Health
Register at a Doctor’s Surgery. (See Health Section, Health Services)
IF YOU CHANGE OR LOSE
YOUR JOB UNEXPECTEDLY

You will need to register again, though you will not need to pay. (See Work Section , Working in the UK)
JobcentrePlus
JobcentrePlus will help you to find another job. If you have worked for more than one year on the WRS, you can claim Jobseekers Allowance (See Work Section , Working in the UK)
3. Your Rights
If you feel you have been unfairly dismissed visit the websites in Unions paragraph, Work Section, Working in the UK.
Accommodation
If you lose your accommodation because you have lost your job, see information in Accommodation Section .
OWNING AND DRIVING A CAR
Driver’s Licence
By law you must have a valid driver’s licence (see Driving in the UK , this Section)
Tax Disk / Vehicle Licence
This is proof you have paid tax for the use of public roads. By law you must display an up-to-date Disk on your windshield (details on Driving in the UK , this Section).
Register Ownership
You must register the fact that you are the owner of your particular vehicle
(details on Driving in the UK , this Section).
Insurance
All drivers must be insured in case of accidents (details on Driving in the UK , this Section).
MOT
An MOT certificate to prove the car is safe to be on the road is necessary by law (details on Driving in the UK , this Section).
