There is a wide range of choices for the care of children (childcare) of all ages in Wiltshire. In the UK the law states that you may not leave your child alone “in a manner which is likely to cause suffering”. The law defines a child as anyone under the age of 18. Whilst you are at work, it is your responsibility as a parent to provide care for your children and to make sure they are safe.
‘ask’ is a charity for parents and carers in Wiltshire offering free information, advice and services for the care of children and young people aged 0 – 19. ‘ask’ can provide parents with details of childminders, nurseries and out of school clubs and many other services. You can contact them by telephone on 08457 585072 (English only). When you tell them what you need, they will send you a list with telephone numbers for you to contact. They can also send information written in Polish. Their website www.askwiltshire.org lists a wide range of choices for various services and activities.
